What is general mingus?

Charles Mingus (1922-1979) was an American jazz double bassist, pianist, composer, and bandleader. Mingus is considered one of the most important composers and performers in modern jazz history. He played with some of the most renowned jazz musicians of his time, including Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Charlie Parker. Mingus was known for his complex and dynamic compositions, often incorporating elements of blues and gospel music. He also had a reputation for being a difficult and temperamental bandleader, frequently clashing with his musicians. Mingus released dozens of albums throughout his career, including such classics as "Mingus Ah Um" and "The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady." He also wrote several books, including an autobiography titled "Beneath the Underdog." Mingus died in 1979 from complications due to ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).
